Amanda Shaffer

Amanda Shaffer is a professional coach and consultant with more than fifteen years experience supporting organizations and individuals to develop leadership capacity and realize their goals.

Whether she is facilitating, coaching, or helping women advance their careers, Amanda’s work is defined by her dedication to advancing equity, inclusion, and social progress. She has designed retreats, facilitated meetings, and provided executive coaching for a range of nonprofit, private sector and higher education institutions.

From 2001 - 2016 Amanda implemented organizational change initiatives at Case Western Reserve University, a private research institution in Ohio, where she worked extensively on National Science Foundation ADVANCE projects. She designed search committee, tenure/promotion bias reduction, and cultural competency training, in addition to successful programs for grant writing and advancing faculty careers. Her signature program, To Tenure and Beyond: Developing an Intentional Career in STEM, was featured in Forward to Professorship: Academic Leadership Development in Science and Engineering, (2015).

Amanda is a Gestalt Professional Certified Coach (GPCC) and is ACC-certified through the International Coach Federation. She earned her MA in Philosophy from Cleveland State University and holds a “Woman in Leadership” certificate from the Weatherhead School of Management. She is trained in 360-feedback assessment, Emotional Intelligence, Appreciative Inquiry, Negotiation and Conflict Management, and Mindful Facilitation.

A founding member of the Ohio Diversity Officers Collaborative (2008), Amanda currently serves as the Vice Chair of the National Advisory Board for the Higher Education Recruitment Consortium. She is also active in her Cleveland Heights community, where she serves on the Citizens Advisory Committee for Community Development Block Grants. She is the founder and artistic director of Red Hen Productions Feminist Theatre (Cleveland,1995-2005) and volunteers with other nonprofit and social justice organizations.
